Just in time for NBA’s season opening day, LeBron James’ commemorative GQ cover has been unveiled. In the 60th Special Anniversary Issue, James spoke with GQ’s Mark Anthony Green to discuss the historic intermingling of politics in sports and his influence on the court and in society. The entire article centers around James being regarded as the greatest athlete alive, not only due to his nearly inhuman athletic ability, but also his business acumen, and altruistic contributions.
Green vividly recounted his weeks spent with James; shadowing him during The Toronto Film Festival, a magazine photo shoot, and other obligatory appearances. LeBron gets candid about why he speaks up against social issues, the conversation with his children after his home was vandalized, hoping he isn’t too “washed” to one day play against his son, and how he doesn’t owe anybody anything. This issue hits newsstands November 2017.
