The 2018 Golden Globe Award show celebrated their 75th year on Sunday, and to further commemorate the moment, history was made as Sterling K. Brown became the first Black man to win Best Performance in a Television Series Drama for “This Is Us”. Brown gave a brief but enthusiastic acceptance speech thanking his family and especially the show’s creator, Dan Fogelman, for developing a role unequivocally for a Black Man.

“I am being seen for who I am, and being appreciated for who I am, and it makes it that much more difficult to dismiss me or dismiss anybody who looks like me.”
