Over 1700 executives filled the Downtown Minneapolis Hilton Ballroom as attendees for the Super Bowl Breakfast this past weekend. The Athletes in Action sponsored event held a ceremony which honored Baltimore Ravens Tight End Benjamin Watson for his outstanding achievements within the community. Watson humbly stood amongst the audience as he received the prestigious Bart Starr Award which is given every year to players “who best exemplifies outstanding character and leadership in the home, on the field, and in the community.”
The award was presented to Watson for his community contributions through his One More Foundation- a non-profit faith-based initiative to draw people in by spreading the love of Christ and also helping to combat sex trafficking in the Baltimore area. As a prelude to his acceptance speech, two large projector screens displayed a brief yet emotional video clip of Watson receiving a call from Bart Starr’s wife, Cherry with the news that he had won. Cherry addressed Watson sating “Special gentlemen receive this award because you know it’s about character and leadership in the home, and on the field, and in your community and you have certainly exhibited that for many, many years.”

“This is an honor. I’m kind of speechless but I’m really honored to represent you and your family and to represent all that your family stands for, all that Bart stood for, and still continues to stand for with his legacy.”
